About The Champion
Ha V. Nguyen was born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam. At the age of 19, Ha moved to Singapore and then to the United States to pursue her educational goals; she now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family for the last 13 years.
As a child living close to her grandparents, Ha witnessed her grandmother’s work and the public health changes in Vietnam after the war. Ha became passionate about helping others, focusing on underprivileged children without access to education and adequate health care. At a young age, she was an active volunteer for the Red Cross, Operation Smile, and other organizations that assisted international doctors and nurses, whose primary mission was to provide care and aid to children in Vietnam.
Since moving to the US, Ha has continued her dedication to helping the community. Besides her busy work schedule, she has helped immigrants adapt to their new lives in the US, and is a longtime volunteer in teaching the Vietnamese language and culture to Vietnamese American children, as a means to help them to connect to their home country.
In 2019, Ha decided to compete for the Miss and Mrs. Vietnam USA competition because she saw the potential to achieve her long-term dream, and contribute her talent to support others.Ha was crowned, and with this fantastic platform, she has been able to connect with people who share the same passion of empowering Vietnamese American women, preserving of the language and culture, and giving back more to the community.
Ha’s dream is that one day she will be able to visit a remote and underprivileged area to teach children English and technology. She believes that knowledge gives children the power to dream of a better future, and the confidence needed to pursue a full education, which in turn will help generations to come. Ha wants to share this quote: “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” — Mother Teresa, and hopes that you will join her on this journey, to bring more love and support to the children of Vietnam.
