Location: Trường Tiểu học, THCS Thành Sơn, Ấp Apa 1, xã Thành Sơn, Huyện Khánh Sơn, tỉnh Khánh Hòa Facts: – Elementary students: 454 – High-school students: 335 – Khanh Son Demographics (visit external link here) The school is located 46km from the nearest city Cam Ranh and 26km from the nearest town, one of the most remote schools in the Khanh Son district. We came across the school information from a story online about students attending first day of school with no sandals and torn clothes. We visited the school first time in November, 2012 to exam its current conditions and meet with the school principal. At the end of our trip, we recognized that the school and nearby community are in desperate need for a clean water system to prevent disease caused by drinking water from river stream, which is used for all types of household uses from washing, bathing, to cooking. This time we came with full bags of joy bringing new sandals to nearly 500 elementary students at Thanh Son. We also gave away “li xi” or red envelops to the students as a little gift for the “Tet” New Year. This year BeCause would like to install a clean water system at Thanh Son school, which will provide clean drinking water to over 700 students at both Thanh Son elementary and high schools as well as community living nearby the schools.
