My name is Minh Thuy. I’m 15 years old and currently studying International General Certificate of Secondary Education at 10E of Nguyen Sieu School. During my childhood, I had the opportunities to get involved in various social events such as: protecting environment, charity activities, and international camps. Since I was given so much in my life, it’s time for me to give back and show my gratitude.
Mu Cang Chai is very impoverished & mountainous district that locates over 300km away from Hanoi. According to the assessment by BeCause, there are mainly three schools that face the worst conditions. 95% of the population are ethnic minorities and living based on agriculture.
With my teammates, I are creating my own campaign to fundraise for a library program at De Xu Phinh Primary & Secondary Semi-boarding School. There are 550 students enrolling at this school, 77% from low income families and 99% are ethnic minorities. The campaign budget is $1,500 which will allow us to furnish a library room with new bookcases with a great selection of new reading materials.
Since the beginning of the campaign, with the help of my mom we have sold many red envelopes for lucky money before Tet – the Lunar New Year celebration. I also raised money from selling some dried products and shoes. That was such a remarkable opportunity for me to learn valuable and precious to earn money – it must not be consumed wastefully. Furthermore, it also makes me understand and appreciate everything that was given to me.
Please support my campaign and help me narrow the gap between education in the city verse mountainous regions and bring a little joy to my fellow friends in Mu Cang Chai!
