After finishing 3 years of high school at Nguyen Sieu School in Ha Noi city, it is time for us to follow our dream journey. Our paths are not similar, each of our classmates in 12VI (Class of 2020) went to different countries worldwide and we might not be gathered wholly together in the next few years. However, noticing that our budget for class activities was left, we decided to spend on a charity activity – which is giving books as a present to an ethnic-minority school. It is De Xu Phinh Primary and Secondary Semi-boarding School in De Xu Phinh commune, Mu Cang Chai mountainous district, Yen Bai province. Our school contributed to building a road named “The Road to School” in this commune. Going through this activity, we aim to offer the students a chance to enhance their knowledge, as well as a chance to follow their journey in the future, like us.
The particular reason for giving books as a present started since we have noticed that there is a minority boarding school with a small and poor condition library with limited books. Currently, the school has 37 staff and teaches 594 students, which is a much larger amount of library usage compared to the actual serving conditions. Most importantly, we noticed that they are lacking books for 1st, 2nd and 6th-grade students since 45% of them are low-income and are more unlikely to afford them.
As a result of noticing the current situation, we decided to contribute to an activity that can help minority students to have a better knowledge base, as well as an opportunity to choose their future. The activity is a meaningful and heartwarming way for us to spend our money, as a whole class, and as a person who wants to share the happiness of following our dream. We hope we can contribute to this library more in the future.
