About The School
Tram Tau town has an area of 11.876,18 with a population of 5.244 people and H’mong ethnic minorities account for approximately 96%. Local people have to face many difficulties because their income is only based on agriculture with 1 rice crop / year. This is an extremely struggling area, which belongs to 61 poorest districts of the country. Many families neglect their children’s studies. For students, there is a lack of clothes, books, and school supplies, so the risk of dropping out of school is high. Moreover, many students get married after a summer vacation or Lunar New Year holiday.
Nam Khat Secondary School was established in 2009 with a total of 481 students in the 2020-221 school year, of which 98-99% are from ethnic minorities. The average distance from home to school is 5km, the furthest is 14km, so about 60% of the students have to stay at school, only coming back home 1-2 times / month. The demand for reading books, newspapers, and entertaining stories after school as well as borrowing textbooks, reference books, and advanced books, etc. to serve the learning and teaching of the students and teachers of the school is very high. However, due to the lack of funding for equipment procurement together with the policy of renewing general textbooks, the school only meets the need to borrow textbooks. The above difficulties have a significant impact on the learning and teaching results of students as well as teachers of the school.
