About our Champions:

Do Nhat Minh

I was born and raised in the city. Ever since I was young, tall apartments, cars or even food, books were just random objects that surrounded my life. Although my parents and the older generations before me lived a hard life in the countryside, I didn’t really know what it was until I was nearly 10. I then discovered how life was, in the rural areas, where everything was scarce. Not just food and other resources but also education. After a lot of researches, I then realized that in Vietnam ,as a developing country, there is still a lot of inequalities. These inequalities aren’t only due to the sources of income of the house but also because of the lack of infrastructures in the countryside. Although nowadays, most people living in the cities know about this phenomenon, not a lot are taking actions to improve this situation. That is why I wanted to join this project to build a library in one of these areas. I didn’t want to stay on the side anymore but to take action. By doing so, I think that not only we will be contributing to the society by improving the lives of these children, by giving them more opportunities, but also to the future of the country since in every part of the world, education is the key to development.

Chu Tran Quoc Bao

Since I was just a little boy, I have heard a lot of stories about how my grandparents and parents lived in the past. Their stories inspired me so much to do my utmost in personal development and appreciate what I have. In my childhood, I used to think that everyone’s life has been improved, and they are now living in a more affluent life, compared to the past. Unfortunately, I was only partly right since although for the majority, people are living more prosperously, there are still a number of regions which are suffering from famine and illiteracy. After doing numerous researches on Vietnam’s poverty, I was overwhelmed by the regional inequalities between city dwellers and the Vietnamese minority groups that are living in mountainous regions. Despite significant development in many parts of the country, inhabitants in an abundance of rural areas are experiencing scarcity and lack of necessity infrastructures, which are the inhibitors that cause their poverty. However, not many people attach this issue with sufficient importance, and  take action to solve this problem. The aforementioned status quo in many rural areas in Vietnam is the reason why I decided to take part in this project as I can devote my effort to set the stage for a better future for children by building a library in Vu A Dinh Elementary school. It is my belief that it is time for me to take action, and I hope that my  contribution can inspire more projects like this to be carried out since it can provide children in poverty regions opportunities to satisfy their need for knowledge and improve their life.
