In an effort to extending our support to Northern Vietnam, BeCause is building two community filtered water tanks for Long Village in Son La Province and Mo Cong Village in Dien Bien Province. Located within the highest poverty region with 60% poverty rate, these villages consist of 180 H’mong minority families. The project will provide clean water source for household use and raise awareness about sanitation. Facts: Long Village – Number of Families: 74 – Background: 100% H’ Mong Ethnicity with 30% do not speak Vietnamese main language “Kinh” Mo Cong Village – Number of Families: 103 – Background: 100% H’ Mong Ethnicity Since these villages are located in the remote north west region of Vietnam, it is not feasible for installing the UV filtration system due to its maintenance requirement and associated cost. These tanks do not produce direct drinking water, but the filtered product will be clean and safe to for household and cooking purposes. The design consists of multiple layers of sand, gravel, and activated carbon which allows water with mineral products to pass through but trapping other carbon-based impurities and contaminants, as well as chlorine.
