Francis Shelter Newsletter – 01 June 2014

After a great trip through the countryside of North Vietnam, I´m finally back in Saigon. It was such an amazing experience, especially Sapa was soooo great. The people are very friendly and during this season, there were nearly no tourists there. Yesterday was International Children’s Day. Anh and I traveled by motorbike to the shelter.  Mr. Chau was gone to the US one day before, so we could not talk to him. Because of the Children’s Day, there were maybe 150 volunteers there and the kids were showered in sweets, candy and potato chips. I also had a package of candy in my backpack, but I decided to save it for the next week ;o) I was really surprised about the construction of the new therapy room, because the bare brickwork is nearly done. Anh and I completed the training with 5 volunteers and it was really good. We introduced our new idea, to train volunteers that will be able to train volunteers to It is advisable to take buy line viagra 3 to 4 months for optimum results. We brainstormed about important topics and discussed a lot of things what they think is important to know for a volunteer at the Shelter. We worked out a good structure for the training. After we finished our 6th session of the training, we will start with a 3-week session where the 2 girls and Anh and I manage the training for around 5-8 volunteers. We need to look for additional volunteers. We got some new contacts yesterday to a volunteer-organisation from the area next to the Shelter and they want to collaborate with us. Beside that, the Shelter gets really crowded. During the last 4 weeks, there are 4 new kids. 2 of them are around 5-6 years old and the other two are around 3-4 years old. The 2 big boys are very active, that’s why they are bound in the bed the whole time. And the 2 smaller kids are very spastic and the staff needs a lot of time to feed them, because they can´t swallow normally. So now there are 17 kids in the room and as I noticed every bed is taken at the moment… Actually I found 2 girls (one German, actually living in Saigon and one Vietnamese, speaking German, actually doing an internship in Saigon), who are interested to volunteer. But I have not met them yet, but I try to do this also during the next 2 weeks.
